Memento

Memento is an excellent film, but not an “It’s a Wonderful Death” film. The film jumps back and forth in time, with color scenes in reverse order and black-and-white scenes in chronological order. Leonard seems to decide that he’ll give himself a new goal to make his life interesting, but he does not realize at the end that he would be happier if, at the beginning, he had died. If anything, he suffers death after death after death, losing his life a dozen times in the movie. But he never wishes that he was dead nor does he think it would be better for everyone else if he had died. I keep forgetting what happened in this film, so I keep watching it over and over.
